Nuclear Safety Case Engineers (Associate Contract Positions) - (UK-AS-02)

Risktec Solutions Ltd. is an independent and specialist risk management consulting and training company. We assist clients in major hazard industries to manage safety and business risk.

Our clients in the nuclear and defence industries require safety case engineers to work at their main offices, project locations or industrial sites in the UK. As a result we are seeking highly motivated, dynamic and influential individuals to join us as Associates on a contract basis. The contract will be managed by our resource solutions business, ASTEC.

Interested candidates should have an excellent understanding of the technical and managerial issues fundamental to technical health, safety and environmental (HSE) risk engineering and management within the UK nuclear and defence industries. In addition, good organizational and written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Each requirement will be different, but typical duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Working at client sites on short, medium or long-term term assignments in the UK.
  • Acting as a Technical Authority for nuclear safety case engineering projects and deliverables, providing technical safety support and advice to projects
  • Lead coordinator for nuclear safety engineering projects, responsible for leading, coordinating and interpreting studies undertaken by internal and external specialists
  • Facilitating a wide range of hazard identification and risk assessment workshops, e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, and Bowtie assessment
  • Developing ALARP demonstrations for safety risks and developing Safety Cases for design and operations phases
  • Producing formal technical reports, Safety Cases and other project deliverables

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified to degree level in relevant engineering or science discipline
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the civil or defence nuclear industry, some positions will require 15+ years.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in nuclear safety case engineering, some positions will require 15+ years. We are seeing an increasing demand for personnel with only 5 years experience.
